BAES = Beca de alimentación para la Educación Superior
(English: Grant of Feeding for Higher Education)
What's that?
It's a grant that's about Chilean Government gives US$54,16 monthly (10 month each year) through a card (BAES card)(like this image above this text) to I-and-II-Quintile Students for feeding they can get in restaurants, supermarkets or maybe cafeteria of all public and some private universities.
How's before BAES?
BAES was a little book with 20 coupons (US$ 2,71 per coupons) these little books were given to I-and-II-quintile students monthly, in 2010, after the Earthquake and Tsunami in Cobquecura, these little books have been replace by the BAES card because its innovation involves in providing security to students, innovation and in avoid students to buy alcohol, drugs, cigarattes, non-food and to change the little book by money in effective.
Who has the BAES card?
All I-and-II-Quintile Students who have a grant or credit (except CORFO).
But You and Everybody know that all is not in PINK
¿What's the bad about the BAES?
- The act of buying food in certain places with this card is considerated as a "slavery"
- In fast-food restaurants, Only "Healthy Menu" (I mean "healthy" for being such, but the amount is as little as covering just one tooth)
- Because of above, this kind of menu doesn't satisfy our hunger for being studying all day long
- There's no "Healthy Menu" often in such restautants
- There's somedays fails on the working of the machines to pay food with the BAES card
- About above, this makes student embarrass.
- Everything become more expensive, and the BAES doesn't grow!!!
What do you think? ¿is it an advantage to Chile's future (students)?
Thanks
